Like the protagonist of my intense multicultural political thriller, I am half American and half Egyptian. My life, as well as my experience as a psychologist and social activist, gives me a unique vantage point from which to view both cultures.
The novel, vetted by several professional writers and editors, reports in as a “page turner” with a strong female protagonist and a tight plot line that captures the reader from the first page.
It is also timely. “The Second Veil” touches upon the complex issues of cultural identity, the pernicious influence of social class differences, and the challenges of political realities in an increasingly religious Arab world.
